Twitter Is Too Much

Add The Community to the growing list of famous critics of Twitter. This fairly new micro-blogging service allows users to “tweet” their latest personal news to their list of “followers” — think Facebook updates to the “nth” degree. More or less, it’s texting others about what kind of sandwich you are eating, what TV show you’re watching, or the color/texture of your latest shit.

Twitter is just another porthole to a snowballing movement to let people know about the most inane details of your otherwise trite existence — the details that most could care less about (unless you’re a crazed stalker). There’s also the hideous name of “Twitter” and the “tweets” that you send out. Well, fa la la.

Some defend it as self reflection, and some say it provides an outlet for keeping in touch (which could make sense for some businesses), but for The Community, it appears as just another self-aggrandizing channel that discourages real human interaction and diminishes the quality of relationships.
