911 exists for emergencies. Of course, emergencies come in all shapes and sizes, and an emergency for some may be an inconsequential matter for others. For help on this, let’s consult the dictionary definition of emergency:

Hair of the dog: One treats an illness with the very thing that causes an illness. It is most commonly used when discussing cures for hangovers.
The saying originated in the 1800s when people would cure rabies by taking the hair of the rabies stricken dog bastard that bit you and sticking it in the open wound.
